The 62nd Asheville

Holiday Parade
Saturday, November 22
at 11 am

The theme of the 62nd Asheville Parade is "The Art & Heart of Giving" and it will be an entertaining, family-friendly celebration of all of the holidays.
Before you set off for the Parade, be sure to check this website (and inserts in the Asheville Citizen-Times and Iwanna for a list of items you can bring to the Parade to be picked up and donated to local charities). So you can enjoy a day filled with holiday fun, and make a donation to the causes of your choice just by bringing a few things with you. Make it a family effort and let each member of the family choose who and what they want to donate.

The Parade kicks off at a new earlier time of 11 am so we have time for afternoon events. The Parade will have a new local feel... everything is from our community including giant puppets created by Red Herring Puppets. Also a charitable twist has over 15 parade entrants collecting for different local charities.

After the Parade, park your folding chairs at a "Chair Corral" and follow the map in the Parade Program to enjoy the beautiful displays of businesses entered in the Holiday Windows program. Then head over to Pritchard Park to cast your ballot for your favorite window in the "People's Choice" award. There you'll enjoy an Old English dance and then meet Santa who will lead caroling before meeting children and collecting his mail from the North Pole Express Mail Box installed at Pritchard Park. After Santa leaves, there will be a performance by members of the famous Biltmore Baptist Choir and Youth Music Ministries.

As you walk through town, you will notice many stores and restaurants with Candy Cane Heart posters in their windows. All of these businesses will be giving a gift to patrons on Parade Day so stop in, have a bite to eat, start your holiday shopping early and you'll receive a little gift to start the season of giving!
